Add everyone who should participate, then create random groups with balanced numbers of people.
Number of teams creates exactly that many groups, provided there are at least as many participants. Maximum team size calculates the number of groups needed and distributes people evenly. For ten people and a maximum size of four, the result has three groups of four, three and three.
Every participant appears once in a generation. The shuffled list is distributed across groups in turn, so group sizes differ by at most one. Orbit does not know people's abilities, friendships or availability. Random headcount balance is not skill balance.
Add names one per line, up to 200 people. Duplicate names are treated as different participants; check whether they identify two people or an accidental duplicate. Drag rows to reorder them, or use the keyboard-accessible up and down buttons. Optional images use Orbit's existing upload compression and safe raster conversion.
Generate again for a fresh shuffle. Rename the resulting teams, copy an individual group, or export the complete result as TXT, CSV or JSON. The last five generations remain in local history. Exports may contain names and images; keep them private when needed.
Orbit draws random values through browser Web Crypto. Bounded integer sampling rejects values that would create modulo bias. The chosen result exists before its reveal animation begins. Reduced motion removes that visual movement; it does not change selection probabilities. Independent draws do not compensate for an earlier streak.
Settings and recent results are kept in this browser. No account is required and generating a result sends no entries or results to a server. Browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable; export a backup for anything you need to keep. Private browsing and another device have separate storage.
After an online visit activates Orbit's service worker, this tool can run offline. Opening a new remote wheel snapshot still needs a connection. Use fullscreen for a group; if your browser does not allow native fullscreen, presentation mode keeps the tool usable.
